Mount Pleasant SC LGBT Real Estate, Mount Pleasant SC Real Estate, Mount Pleasant SC Gay Friendly Realtor

What's in a name? Well for Mount Pleasant, the name really says it all. This once small village is still rich in history, culture and friendly people. With a total area of 49.5 square miles and a population of over 60,000, this delightful city has become the third largest in the metro area, preceded only by Charleston and North Charleston.

Originally inhabited by Sewee Indians, it was only in 1680 that the first white settlers from England gazed upon Mount Pleasant's beauty. From there they could see what we now know as downtown Charleston and they enjoyed the shores of nearby Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island.

Built along the harbor, one finds the Old Village which has period homes and historic churches. Down at Pitt Street, the heart of the Old Village, you can visit the Pitt Street Pharmacy where you can feast on old fashioned ice cream soda. If you've got guests coming over, let them experience the authentic feel of the era in The Old Village Post House, a grocery store built by Germans in 1880 which has since been renovated into a classic accommodation. While on your way to watch the sunset over the bay at the community playground, take a stroll past Alhambra Hall where weddings and special occasions are held.

To further your Mount Pleasant experience, visit Boone Hall Plantation. This cotton plantation has nine slave cabins, a Cotton Gin House built around 1853 and a Smoke House built in the 1750's. Walk along its lush grounds where majestic live oaks abound while you enrich your mind with history.

If your interests lie in ships and the Navy, then a visit to Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum is definitely in order. Climb aboard and see the USS Yorktown, take a peak at a submarine and destroyers, and pretend you can fly an aircraft with their flight simulator. One can also find several vintage aircrafts on site as well as a museum displaying Congressional Medals of Honor.

There are many shops in Mount Pleasant to keep you busy. The Mt. Pleasant Town Center, for one, has more than 65 stores to browse through while several boutique and antique shops line the streets of city. However, to truly own a piece of Mount Pleasant, head over to US Highway 17 North. Here you'll find Sweetgrass Baskets, an art of basket weaving that has been part of this community for 300 years. When your stomach starts churning head for Shem Creek where you can sample some sumptuous fresh seafood.

With an average cost of around $280,000 for a single-family home, Mount Pleasant, SC gay friendly real estate is a steal. With shopping, history, culture and nature all around, what more can you ask for? The Farmers Market, schools, as well as the Patriots Point Links golf course are in close proximity and your Mount Pleasant, SC gay friendly realtor will be more than happy to show you the neighborhoods in the area such as Rivertowne and The Peninsula.
